HOW IT STARTED
It started simply enough: Businessman Bob Nourse brought together several Milwaukee-area executives in 1957 to help each other solve their business challenges. He made sure they were from non-competing industries and kept conversations confidential. He also brought in business experts to share their insights.
WHERE IT BEGAN — 1957
Nourse’s formula spurred such remarkable success that it wasn’t long before his Midwestern business became a thriving international company with 45,000 members in 40 countries. That same vision is what Dr. W. Lynn Tanner brought north of the border in 1985.
COMING TO CANADA — 1985
Dr. W. Lynn Tanner didn’t just import an idea, he built a community.
In 1985, after experiencing the power of peer advisory firsthand at a Vistage meeting in the United States, Dr. Tanner founded TEC Canada: the first organization to offer peer-based executive development to Canadian CEOs, senior executives and business owners. Four decades later, that same commitment to challenge, trust and growth is what defines Vistage in Canada today.
A NEW CHAPTER — SAME FOUNDATION, BIGGER HORIZON
In 2026, Vistage acquired TEC Canada, bringing the organization fully into the Vistage family. It’s a change in name, not in mission: Our membership is now backed by Vistage’s global platform, resources and community of 45,000 members in 40 countries.
